Assoufid Golf review: our verdict
Here, the desert hasn't been repainted green. Designed by Niall Cameron and opened in 2014 on the road to Guemassa, Assoufid's 18-hole course keeps the local plants and only greens 45% of the area, for water conservation reasons: green fairways wind through canyons and arid land, with olive trees on the edges and mountains across when the weather permits.
Par 72, 6,440 meters, and no easy shots: dog-legs, risky holes, elevated or downhill greens. The first nine holes offer the best views of the Atlas, no buildings disturb the landscape, and maintenance is usually impeccable, practice included. A course for confirmed players who like to be tested; a beginner risks mostly losing many balls. The pro shop, however, remains modest for a course of this level.
The good deal: finish under the club-house olive tree, facing the 18th green. The trap: not to ask about the fairway condition when booking; in October 2025, they hadn't been mowed for a while, for a green fee of around 1,200 DH (110 €).
