Gypso review: our verdict
The crispy bread basket, freshly baked pastries, and a well-made café crème: at Gypso, breakfast is the best reason to stop by. The house loves revisiting classics, from a glazed croissant to a chocolate cake that crosses paths with kounafa, and takes care of the presentation of every dish.
The setting is nicely decorated and remains calm in the morning, in Maârif, making it a good spot for a breakfast for two or a brunch with friends or family. Portions are generous. At brunch, however, service can be slow and soft-boiled eggs are not always soft. Not for those in a rush during peak hours, nor for those who never leave cash on hand.
Dish to order: breakfast, with pastries and bread basket. Best time slot: from 8 a.m., before the brunch rush. Pitfall: the tip, which is only accepted in cash and never by card, so bring some change.
