Our review
The Parisian brasserie of Gueliz
Open since 2012 at 18 Rue de la Liberté, Le Loft has become a Gueliz institution for fans of French cuisine in Marrakech. Behind its discreet facade lies a characterful interior: wooden flooring, exposed brick walls adorned with pop art, soft candlelight in the evening — a true New York loft transplanted to the heart of the ochre city. The atmosphere oscillates between relaxed Parisian bistro and urban cocktail bar, with 70s-80s hits playing in the background to complete the setting.
The menu is an unapologetic tribute to French brasserie cuisine: foie gras with Porto, escargots, beef tartare, 7-hour braised lamb shank, rib steak with béarnaise, chicken cordon bleu with Emmental... Portions are generous and ingredients are fresh. On the dessert front, the Tahitian vanilla crème brûlée and chocolate fondant deliver. The lunch menu at 170 MAD (starter + main or main + dessert) offers excellent value for the neighborhood. In the evening, expect 250 to 400 MAD per person with a glass of wine — served on tap, a nice touch.
Our verdict
With 4.5/5 on Google and nearly 800 reviews, Le Loft doesn’t do flashy: it’s a reliable choice, a place you come back to. Reviews unanimously praise the quality of the grilled meats, the attentive service (special mention to the floor team) and the warm atmosphere that works for romantic dinners and evenings with friends alike. The terrace is a bonus for aperitifs. If you’re looking for a dependable French dining experience in Marrakech without pretension, Le Loft checks all the boxes.
