Marie Bastide Marrakech review: our verdict
The vibrant silk square has become the house's signature gift, the one you give to a friend with confidence in its impact. Marie Bastide, a French architect based in Marrakech, opened in 2018 on rue de la Liberté a space halfway between a boutique, gallery, and studio, where she tells the story of her city through posters, photographs, illustrations, and engraved postcards.
Surrounding it, a selection of handmade objects: candles, soaps, scarves, tableware, small furniture, rugs, and copper cookie cutters. Packaging is a ritual in itself, and orders ship all the way to France. This is the address for a birthday gift or a more personal souvenir than the obligatory babouche, for those who love Marrakech in graphic form. Not for raw traditional craftsmanship: here, everything passes through the eye of a creator.
The tip: the second, smaller boutique in the medina, if you don't go up to Guéliz. The trap: counting on Sunday, the day it's closed; the rest of the week, it's open from 10 am to 7 pm.
