Al Taglio review: our verdict
Here, pizza is sold by the slice, just like in Rome: Al Taglio lives up to its name. At the counter, you'll find focaccias, arancini, quiches, and a dish of the day, alongside a small selection of Italian products. It's the kind of spot you stumble upon by chance and immediately add to your lunch routine, even if you end up taking a few slices home for the evening.
The owners run the shop themselves, and the welcome has a family feel that's becoming increasingly rare. It's the perfect spot for a quick lunch between appointments, an afternoon salty break, or slices to take home for an aperitif, all at honest prices. This isn't a place for a seated dinner or an evening out: the kitchen closes at 8 pm and on Sundays, and you come for the counter more than the decor.
Dish to order: a slice of pizza and a focaccia, the heart of the counter. The bargain: the dish of the day, to eat in or take away. Best time to visit: lunch, Monday to Saturday from noon to 8 pm.
