Lamsaty Handmade review: our verdict
We leave with what we have shaped, but not on the same day: pottery that dries for four to five days, then goes into the kiln for two days. This is the only constraint of Lamsaty Handmade, a family workshop opened in 2018 by a brother and sister, on the road to Safi. In 300 m² of bright, air-conditioned space, extended by a terrace, there are three workshops to choose from: two hours of pottery, from hand-shaping to the electric wheel, painting on already-turned ceramic pieces, or an introduction to embroidery that ends with a fabric bag.
The guidance makes the difference: the team guides everyone step by step, in Arabic, French, or English, never rushing anyone. Parents and children, welcomed from age 3, find an outing to share here, but couples, groups of friends, and companies looking for a different team-building experience also find their place. Forget Sunday and the midday break at 3 p.m., as the workshop is then closed; and this is not a last-minute departure activity.
The pitfall: schedule the pottery for the last day of your stay, as the piece won't be fired in time; come early or request delivery. The perfect slot: an afternoon in summer, when the air-conditioned workshop is preferable to the heat-crushed alleyways. The insider tip: a detour to the small boutique, which sells the house collection.
