D&CO Art Gallery review: our verdict
You wouldn't expect to find an artist's studio in the middle of an industrial zone, yet at D&CO, it sometimes happens that a work of art takes shape before your eyes. Since 2006, the gallery has occupied approximately 400 m² across three levels, where around forty artists, Moroccan or foreign residents in Morocco, showcase painting, sculpture, photography, collage, works in recycled materials, furniture, and design objects.
The exhibition is frequently updated, which justifies a return visit, and the dealer welcomes visitors with good humour, without pretension. The house knows how to ship a work abroad and collaborates with top-end hotels in Marrakech, which hang works by its artists. Collectors find a seasoned contact here, while the curious find a pleasant interlude between two shops in the zone. Those who plan to do everything on foot from the medina will need to rethink their plans: Sidi Ghanem is out of the way; you come by car or taxi.
The trap: finding the door closed, as the gallery does not receive visitors on Sundays and closes at 4 p.m. on Saturdays. During the week, the gallery receives visitors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
