Melipol review: our verdict
A truly worthy espresso, and no coincidence: the family behind Melipol hails from Italy. The pizzas emerge from a stone oven with expertly managed dough, the parmigiana is served in generous portions, and the rest of the menu stays faithful to the classics, from carbonara pasta to chicken pesto tagliatelles, and veal. For dessert, the tiramisu holds its own.
The dining room is modern and elegant, the terrace pleasant on sunny days, and the owners welcome guests in person with sincere kindness. The house opens at 10 a.m.: morning coffee, a quick lunch, or a romantic dinner, everything is possible. For a pizza with friends or family in Guéliz, without pretension. Less so for a lively dinner: lacking music, the decor remains a bit cold, and service can falter at peak hours.
The dish to order: a pizza, followed by tiramisu with an espresso. The trap: coming on Sunday, the day it's closed. The right slot: outside rush hour, when service has time to keep up.
