Agafay Luxury Camp review: our verdict
When the sun descends upon the Agafay's undulating terrain, the plateau turns copper, revealing why one has driven about fifty minutes from Marrakech. The camp sprawls between canyons, dunes, and gorges, with the Atlas Mountains lining the horizon. You sleep under canvas without compromising on anything: air-conditioned tents with hot water and an outdoor bathtub, or villas featuring their own pool facing the canyon. Two swimming pools and a large jacuzzi complete the picture.
The atmosphere is that of a desert party: music by the pool during the day, musicians at dinner, and a team that sometimes ends up getting the whole room dancing. The director walks among the tables to check in, giving the stay a personal touch. Perfect for a birthday, a couple's getaway that enjoys the buzz, or a night with friends, with dromedaries, quads, or hot air balloons on the agenda. Not for those seeking the silence of the desert, nor for tight budgets: bar and menu prices are high, with portions sometimes meager.
The best spot: sunset from the lodge terrace, facing the canyon. The trap: the mojito, 120 DH for a glass mostly filled with ice cubes (checked in July 2026). The good find: the villa with a private pool, to have your own pool to yourself.
