Angsana Heritage review: our verdict
Six houses, forty-two rooms, one reception only: Angsana Heritage brings together restored riads in the alleyways of Derb Si Said, between the Bahia Palace and the mellah. Each retains its fountain patio and rooftop terrace, where cocktails are served at dusk, with a décor that blends Moroccan craftsmanship with contemporary lines.
For breakfast, Moroccan dishes change every morning; for dinner, the Si Said table cooks fresh local produce, avoiding the need to venture out. The staff is attentive, the rooms are spacious and freshly made up daily, and the spa combines Asian-inspired treatments with hammam. Ideal for a first stay in Marrakech with a couple or friends, with the souks within walking distance. Less suitable for those seeking the intimacy of a guesthouse run by its owners: this is a group hotel collection, more established than bohemian.
The pitfall: booking without specifying your expectations, as amenities vary from one riad to another and only some have a private pool. The good tip: the hotel's private car transfer from the airport, and the smartphone lent to help you navigate the alleys. The best time slot: the end of the day on the rooftop.
