Palais Anthea review: our verdict
To stay close without venturing far, Palais Anthea has a strong selling point: the Atlas Mountains are right across the way, and a meticulously maintained hectare of gardens is just a quarter-hour from the city centre. The architecture blends Moroccan palace style with more contemporary lines, featuring decor that flirt with the magic of One Thousand and One Nights. On the room front, spacious suites feature modern bathrooms, complete with bathtubs.
Swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym open day and night, spa with traditional hammam, and yoga sessions: everything is available without leaving the premises. The generous breakfast is served in your room and is happily enjoyed by the waterside, and the staff make every guest feel at ease from arrival. Couples and groups of friends stay for a few nights, others just for a day. Not for those who want to live the medina on a daily basis: the journey counts, even though a shuttle connects with the city.
The good tip: the day formula, with pool access and lunch included, to taste the place's calm without taking a room. The pitfall: breakfast in the dining room in winter, where smoking is not necessarily banned; on fine days, the terrace is better.
