Riad Alkemia review: our verdict
Riad Alkemia rents out as a whole block, or not at all. This 18th-century residence, restored in 2019 at the bottom of Derb El Ferrane, offers fifteen beds distributed across seven rooms on three floors, a patio with its swimming pool, a hammam, a fireplace in the living room, and, at the very top, a terrace from which the entire city unfolds.
It is made for reunions: cousins coming from four countries, a wedding, a birthday, a group of a dozen friends. The team organizes everything, from airport shuttles to desert excursions, and even sets up a night with a DJ between current music and oriental accents. Breakfast, served on the terrace, changes every morning, and the Moroccan dinners cooked on-site are generous. The riad is secluded enough to sleep in peace, close enough to the souks to take a break in the midday heat. For two, pass: we'd mostly pay for empty rooms.
The good tip: entrust the party to the team, DJ included, rather than looking for a venue elsewhere. The dish to order: the home-cooked Moroccan dinner, so generous it makes you forget the restaurants of the medina for one or two evenings.
