Amanjena review: our verdict
Everything converges toward the water at Amanjena: a large central basin reflects the arches and pink walls of an architecture that revisits Marrakech palaces in a soothing version, with touches from Asia. Vaulted ceilings, shaded courtyards, and around, pavilions and standalone houses, each with its own garden and gazebo, some with private pools, among olive trees and palms.
The estate, twelve kilometers from the city on the road to Ouarzazate, is self-sufficient: spa, main pool, tennis court, library, and two restaurants, one Japanese and one Moroccan, the latter executing the country's classics with precision. The hotel also organizes private dinners under tents in the Agafay desert, and traditional music concerts. The staff takes the time to show newcomers around the premises. For a honeymoon, a family stay, or the end-of-year holidays. Not for a curious visit: the gardens are reserved for residents.
The trap: coming only for a drink hoping to wander, as you stay within the reception area and the bill climbs quickly, nearly 1,100 DH (100 €) for three cocktails, a coffee, and a dessert (updated January 2026). The good tip: a festive dinner, like New Year's Eve, to taste the place without staying overnight.
