Pink Cactus review: our verdict
You don't come to Pink Cactus for a meal, you come for a day. The pool is surrounded by olive trees, palms and cacti, with hammocks and giant games, and pink covers everything, from the walls to the cushions. A Mediterranean and Moroccan menu accompanies the hours by the pool, with pressed juices and cocktails, just before the entrance to Golf Royal, on the Amelkis side.
Groups of friends, solo travellers, couples who want to read in the sun: on quiet days, everyone finds what they're looking for, with a accommodating staff and the pool open until evening. To vary things, there's yoga, a hammam and massages. However, when the crowds exceed the staff's capacity, everything grinds to a halt: bookings can't be found, promised sunbeds replaced by the lawn, more than two hours between ordering and the dish, and a kitchen that, on those days, disappoints outright. No point going there for a quick lunch, let alone on a public holiday.
The trap: on festive days, like Aïd, when service is short-staffed. The best slot: a weekday, right from opening at 11 a.m., when the pool is calm. The good tip: confirm your booking the day before and order as soon as you arrive.
