Azzera review: our verdict
An adult-only pool, palm trees, olive trees, and flowerbeds: at lunch, Azzera opens the Four Seasons garden to those not staying on-site. The Mediterranean menu gets straight to the point, with grilled meats and fish, seafood, sandwiches for smaller appetites, and a pistachio ice cream to finish.
The setting is the main thing: greenery, the sound of water, and calm, just a stone's throw from the Ménara. The service is attentive and smiling, from the first drink to the coffee. It's a place to come for tête-à-tête, in a group under the sun, or between lengths of the pool, with a cocktail from the bar in hand. Not so much for demanding gourmets: the dishes remain uneven, with portions sometimes just right, a tomato sauce without relief on the pasta, and desserts that lack flavor in light of the palace's bill.
The right time slot: a lunch that stretches out, since service runs from noon to 5 p.m., every day. The good deal: come for the setting and order simply, a grilled item and a drink by the water, rather than waiting for a large table.
