Lagon & Jardin review: our verdict
A pool designed like a lagoon, palm trees, and a kitchen tuned to the harvests of an organic vegetable garden: Lagon & Jardin is the most relaxed dining spot at the Palace Es Saadi in Hivernage. Reviewed by Alexandre Danan, the menu draws from the fruits, vegetables, and herbs of the Potager du Bled. At lunch, you can compose a salad plate at the salad bar, or go straight for the grilled Dakhla octopus on the Josper or a tuna ceviche.
The service smiles, remains attentive without hovering, and doesn't rush anyone, which suits families as well as friends spending the day at the palace, including the pool. On Sundays, brunch is set to music, with quick grills, fish, and langoustines, pétanque, exhibitions, and a kids' club to keep the little ones occupied. No need to come for a quick weekday lunch: the lunch kitchen closes at 3 p.m., and the place is meant to be savoured slowly.
The best slot: on Sunday, when brunch runs until 5 p.m. and the musicians are playing. The trap: showing up on that day without a reservation.
