BABQAL review: our verdict
A city that lights up below, conversations kept low, a dimming light over Guéliz: Babqal, the table at the Bab Hotel, first offers a moment of calm on a rooftop. The cuisine, Moroccan in spirit, works with fresh ingredients and takes care of presentation, from a quinoa salad with shrimp to perfectly fried croquettes, never raising the bill beyond what you'd pay in the neighbourhood.
The real highlight is the team: smiling, fast, attentive, under the watchful eye of a director who runs the floor, and generous when you come to celebrate something. Mocktails are adjusted to request, and a very photogenic décor corner makes the happiness of those who like to leave with a picture. The table is open from noon to midnight, for hotel guests or not. A good find for a birthday with friends, a dinner for two, or an evening drink; those looking for a party that rises in music and decibels will seek another rooftop.
The best slot: evening, when the view and the light do all the work and the terrace takes on its elegant look. The best plan: lunch, even quieter, to enjoy the rooftop before it fills up.
