La Paillote review: our verdict
Under the olive trees, well-spaced tables and soft lighting; inside, chocolate tones, colonial furniture, club chairs, and a fireplace: La Paillote plays the safari lodge card just four kilometers from the city, on the route to Amizmiz. The cuisine, Moroccan and international, works with seasonal produce, from beef cuts to sole and bar, with homemade desserts and cocktails.
The venue comes alive mainly in the evening, set to DJ music, with a magician making rounds at the tables and themed evenings, all in white or dedicated to blues. The house has its long-standing regulars, and the chauffeur-driven shuttle, which picks you up and drops you off, avoids having to drive back. For a large gathering of friends or a family dinner in the garden. Less for those with refined palates seeking consistency: depending on the evening, dishes lack seasoning or have too much, and the menu changes little.
The trap: come to chat on a DJ evening, and the volume is turned up to cover conversations in September 2026. The good tip: the chauffeur-driven shuttle, to enjoy cocktails without taking the wheel. The best slot: a themed evening, knowing the house closes on Tuesdays.
