La Pergola review: our verdict
Le jazz starts with dinner and accompanies every evening until closing: that's the selling point of La Pergola, the rooftop of Riad Monceau, tucked away in the alleyways of Riad Zitoun Lakdim. Up there, dense vegetation, striking decor, and misters for scorching afternoons. The menu navigates between Moroccan and Mediterranean flavors, featuring a Moroccan tapas platter designed for two and a couscous that holds its own against home-cooked fare.
You climb up for an aperitif that extends into dinner, for two or with friends, or in the afternoon for a gourmet tea and its three desserts. Service varies by evening: some servers are attentive, other times the terrace feels neglected, and a poorly handled disagreement at the end of service can ruin the evening. Not for a medina budget: you pay European terrace prices here.
Dish to order: the Moroccan tapas, served on a platter to share for two. The trap: the beef fillet skewers, three small pieces overcooked and priced around 215 DH (20 €), with cocktails ranging from 150 to 175 DH (14 to 16 €) (reviewed in June 2026). The good tip: come for the happy hour, between 4 pm and 6 pm, and stay until the first set of jazz, at 8 pm.
