Rôtisserie de la Paix review: our verdict
Peacocks strutting through the garden while we dig into a beef rib: that is the scene at Rôtisserie de la Paix, a Guéliz institution dating back to 1949. Run by the third generation of the same family, the house has never lost its wood-fired grill, which is the star behind its reputation for fillet, beef rib, and homemade fries, with occasional detours to lamb tajine or crab falafels.
Surrounding it, 2,000 m² of greenery right in the heart of Guéliz: mosaics, trees lit up in the evening, and heaters for chilly nights. Portions are generous, service attentive, and kids are glued to the peacocks. Lunch in the sun with the family, aperitif between friends at dusk, dinner under the trees with a faint scent of the protectorate era: everything happens outdoors. It's not a table for an indoor meal: inside, without music and almost without decoration, the atmosphere falls flat and you can hear every nearby conversation.
The dish to order: grilled meat over the wood fire with the homemade fries, the very reason for this address's existence. The trap: accepting a table inside. The best slot: in the evening, when the trees are lit, until midnight and a half on Fridays and Saturdays.
