Savoy Le Grand Hotel Marrakech review: our verdict
The Savoy breakfast is what people talk about when they come back: generous, fresh, and varied enough to please all tastes. The rest follows the same logic of a seasoned grand hotel, with three outdoor pools, one covered, a hammam, sauna, and jacuzzi, and spacious rooms overlooking the gardens, pools, or the Atlas. As for the location, the hotel faces the Ménara gardens, in Hivernage, and both the airport and the medina are a taxi ride away.
For dinner, there's no need to go out: the Metropole holds the buffet, the Morocco serves Moroccan cuisine, Alfredo offers Italian, and the Bella Lounge features an international menu. The lifeguards keep the pools always clean, and the staff quickly resolve any minor issues. Families find the pool without giving up the city, while business travellers enjoy rooms that also serve for seminars and weddings. This is not the address for those seeking the intimacy of a riad: you are in a grand five-star hotel, with its bustle and events.
Good tip: alternate among the four restaurants of the house, which avoids having to go out every evening. For a first or last night before the flight, the proximity to the airport saves precious time.
