MB Marrakech review: our verdict
On certain Fridays, chef Christophe Pionnier leaves his kitchen station to take the microphone. Hailing from southern France, he leads MB with the same ease in the kitchen and in front of the tables. His menu looks toward the Mediterranean without compromising on cooking: oysters, snails in parsley oil, turbot, and a grilled octopus that melts under the fork, followed by desserts that are all lightness.
The decor is chic without being stiff, the service precise and attentive, and a valet waits at the entrance on rue Khalid Ben El Oualid. The cocktails are crafted as seriously as the plates, and as soon as it's mild, dinner moves to the large terrace. It's kept for a tête-à-tête, a business meal, or a celebration. Not for a quick bite, nor for those who appreciate little staging: here, the house loves to show itself, chef at the forefront.
The dish to order: the grilled octopus. The good time slot: Friday evening, to see the chef on the microphone. The trap: forgetting that the house closes on Sunday and Monday; better also to book, as the dining room fills up quickly.
