Selman Marrakech review: our verdict
At Selman, the star is not the room but the stable: purebred Arab horses live on the estate and parade during evening events. The rest matches the setting designed by Jacques Garcia, flawlessly Arab-Moorish, with this 80-metre pool stretching toward the Atlas that is recognizable in every photo.
You come for a weekend that marks something or a wedding anniversary, and you dine on-site: Moroccan with equestrian shows at Assyl, Jean-François Piège's cuisine at La Terrasse and at SABO. The service attends to the details, down to the towel placed on the sun lounger. It's not the right base for exploring the medina every day: you need a taxi, and you eventually stop leaving the estate.
Good tip: the Sunday brunch, to discover the estate without staying overnight. Best time slot: late afternoon by the large pool, with the Atlas facing you.
