La Table du Souk review: our verdict
At a time when the souks are saturated, the roof of La Sultana remains surprisingly calm. La Table du Souk serves lunch only, from noon to 3 p.m., on a terrace overlooking the ramparts, the minaret of Moulay El Yazid, and, when the air is clear, the peaks of the Atlas. The cuisine looks toward the Mediterranean, with fresh produce at the forefront, featuring a few bites inspired by Moroccan street food, but lighter.
It's the perfect break between two visits, with the Saadian Tombs just a stone's throw away: precise service, grand hotel ambiance, and a leisurely stroll through the hotel's lounges to finish. No need to stay overnight; the table also welcomes those just passing through. Less suitable for a quick meal or a tight budget: you pay noticeably more than in most restaurants in Marrakech.
The dish to order: grilled seafood platter, with a half-crab presented hanging, especially on Sundays, the day of Oualidia's arrivals. The trap: follow the GPS to the letter, as the door is just opposite where the app stops you.
